Discovery phase
This idea came to me during the pandemic. “2k” refers to being able to row for two kilometers without breaks (it’s analogous to 5k for runners). I used to row regularly. At the start of the pandemic with gyms closed I didn’t have access to a rowing machine anymore. I wanted to build something to help me with my goal and to potentially help others as well. I am preparing for my glorious return to rowing.

User Interview Script
Hi, I’m Eric. Today I will be showing you a new product and asking you to complete some tasks, I didn’t make this product so please don’t feel like you’d be hurting my feelings. I will start by asking you some questions then showing you a demo and just looking to get your thoughts. Does that sound good?
What have you been doing during the pandemic to keep busy? What do you miss most about the before times? How do you stay active? Have you tried using a rowing machine before, what was your experience?
I am going to show you a prototype of the product now. Just so you are aware, since this is a prototype not all features work. Here it is, what are your initial thoughts?
